You may have seen it many years ago on the Jamie Foxx Show, NYPD Blue, and more recently on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and The truth. She has built a successful career as an actress, an entrepreneur with her own production company and thrives as a philanthropist.
Now Garcelle Beauvais is ready to enter the fashion world as she recently launched her own jewelry line.
The reality TV star and talk show host just presented Garcelle x Roni Blanshay. She offers earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings with her collection. The entrepreneur keeps busy with his production company Beauvais Wilson Productions, as an author, and in her work helping women and girls across Strengthen the women’s network.
BLACK CORPORATE had the opportunity to speak with Beauvais about her new jewelry line, her upcoming book, and the advice she would give to someone looking to succeed in their career.
What motivated you to become an entrepreneur with Beauvais Wilson Productions and, more recently, your jewelry line, Garcelle x Roni Blanshay?
I’ve always been a “wear a lot of hats” person. I am an artist at heart, and therefore everything related to art inspires me. Collaborating with Roni Blanshay for my first fashion adventure was so exciting! I combined my love of fashion and jewelry with my entrepreneurial spirit to create something amazing for women everywhere! I also like to tell stories, especially those that are positively uplifting and moving, so starting my production company with my producing partner, Lisa L. Wilson, was obvious!
What made you want to start Garcelle x Roni Blanshay, collection and what future plans do you have for the line?
I was a fan of the RB brand for many years, and after a few conversations with Roni, I knew that when the opportunity to create a line with them came along, I had to jump at the chance. ! We were able to merge many parts of me with a bit of sparkle to give a variety of accessories for every modern and chic woman. What’s coming? More glitz and glamour, of course!
You have just announced the spring release of your book, love me as i am. What is the book about and how long did you work on it?
I’m so excited to share my memoir, Love me as I am with the world. It was just the right time to tell my story of how I found myself in more depth. It’s a book about my journey and it’s a mix of funny, moving and sometimes sad truths, and I hope it inspires other women to stay strong, be independent and love themselves. My writing partner Nicole E.Smith and I worked on it for almost a year, so believe me, no page was left behind.
What would you say to someone approaching you for advice on how to be successful in what they are doing?
I would say ‘persevere’. If it’s something you really want to do, don’t let someone tell you “no” to hold you back. Keep fighting the good fight, be professional and do your job. Show up on time and go all out for whatever you are trying to accomplish. Dedication and faith are extremely important and have helped steer me in the right direction many times throughout my career.
What’s next for you? What should we pay attention to in the near future?
Whenever someone says, “what’s next”, I always think, “we have to ask God because he’s in charge.” But, in an ideal world, some of the goals I’ve set for myself are to continue to grow my brand, whether it’s further developing my acting career, my production company, or developing a second season for Garcelle x Roni Blanshay. I also want to continue to be the best mom and grandma I can be, not to mention find love! And finally, I want to keep using my platform for good.
